According to a Statistics Canada report released April 27, Saskatchewan’s GDP saw its best performance in almost 15 years.
In 2011, the provincial economy grew 4.8 per cent, the second highest rate of growth in the nation behind Alberta.
Population growth, better than expected crop production, high residential construction, and gains in wholesale and retail trade were all cited as contributing factors in the overall rise.
Canada’s GDP increased by 2.6 per cent in 2011.
