Four days in Mexico could change how one young Saskatchewan entrepreneur does business forever.

At just 25-years old, Bryan McCrea, co-owner of 3twenty Solutions in Saskatoon, was hand picked to represent Saskatchewan at this year’s G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit in Mexico City, Mexico, an experience he calls “the opportunity of a lifetime”.

“They had a handful of successful Saskatchewan entrepreneurs to pick from, and they went through quite a selection process to find those that are passionate and really doing something in the realm of entrepreneurship,” McCrea said.

“I just feel so fortunate I was picked. This isn’t an opportunity you turn down.”

McCrea was one of 22 Canadian delegates who attended the G20 YES in early June.

The summit brings together hundreds of influential entrepreneurs and other leaders from the G20 countries. They collaborate and provide input for G20 leaders on the role entrepreneurship plays in the global economy and they offer an action plan to G20 leaders on how to make the world better for entrepreneurs.

“Very seldom do we have opportunities to learn from the best and brightest young entrepreneurs from around the world. It was a pretty intensive three days of constant networking during breakout sessions,” McCrea said.

McCrea believes he was chosen to represent Saskatchewan not only because of his success, but also because of his passion to take an idea and run with it.

McCrea, along with a friend and engineer from the University of Saskatchewan came up with the idea for 3twenty Solutions while still in university. They saw the opportunity to build modular structures out of steel shipping containers to create offices and housing for the mining, oil & gas and resource sector.

It all started as just an idea jotted down on paper, but now, after less than two years in business, 3twenty Solutions has hundreds of units on the market and employs around 20 full time employees – growth McCrea credits to hard work and a fundamental passion.

“I don’t talk about it, I do it. Everything we’ve talked about, we’ve done. We are walking the walk,” McCrea said.

Despite being a successful entrepreneur himself, McCrea said his experience at the G20 YES was humbling.

“There were a lot of people there with a lot more experience than me, and to be able to sit down with guys like that willing to share their experiences is huge,” McCrea said.

“You have 40 year old entrepreneurs there, who manage thousands of employees. That’s really different than me, 25 years old with 20 full time employees. The people that go to this are very, very impressive.”

McCrea said the experience allowed him to gain a wealth of contacts throughout the world, something that will help him take his business to an international level.

“There is a lot of opportunity in Saskatchewan’s resource sector, but we want to grow beyond our borders, we want to grow right around the world.”

And now, McCrea knows just who to call.
